Strike a pose, make a splash, and team with your wedding party in conquering the mighty Kicking Horse River. Join the #bachbash revolution and make your stag or stagette one for the ages. There’s no better way to get ready for your next ‘big adventure’ than by hitting the rapids. After all, whitewater rafting is a lot like marriage: exciting, unique each trip, sometimes a little bumpy, but always one heck of a ride! Here are a few quick answers for those considering this once in a lifetime way of celebrating their upcoming marriage.
Is whitewater rafting dangerous?
Without the proper guides and equipment, sure. Thankfully Hydra River Guides has been helping adventurers from all over the world taking in the beauty of the Kicking Horse for over 27 years. This means you’re not only in the safest and most experienced hands but rafting with some of the most entertaining guides on the river! We’ll make sure your entire wedding party is kitted out in the best gear and well versed in the appropriate safety procedures before you hit the water.
Will a rafting trip be enjoyable for everyone?
Simply put: yes! If you want to see your closest friends and family have the time of their lives before seeing you down the aisle, rafting is a surefire way to making lasting memories full of laughter and adventure. Our trips are suitable for the inexperienced (find more information in our FAQ section), and our guides are well-versed in catering to groups of all levels. You’ll lap up the luxury of our exclusive Hydra River Base, allowing you to change and relax in style, and best of all…we’re close enough to both Golden and Banff that those looking to continue the party in the wee hours will have no shortage of opportunities!
My wedding party is large…can we afford to bring everyone?
Yes! When you book in groups of 8 or more the bride or groom can raft for free, or should you opt for a buck and doe (when the bride and groom are bringing their friends together) party, parties of 16 or more include waived fees for both the bride and groom. We do our best to ensure groups are placed together, so no one feels left out on the journey.
Rafting offers a fantastic time for both stags and stagettes. The “traditional” night out is increasingly dying off, with many brides and grooms finding the idea of spending the night at the bar uncomfortable. Instead, people are turning to more group-oriented activities to take away from the distractions of life and bring everyone together. There’s no better way to take in the scenery of the Canadian Rockies, relax, and leave with guaranteed remarkable stories you’ll carry for a lifetime. An affordable, fun, and wet adventure is Hydra’s wedding gift to those looking to think outside of the box and go on an adventure you won’t soon forget.
