Why Golden, BC?

When to Go, What to Bring

Our rafting season starts mid-May and goes until mid-September, water levels and air quality permitting. That being said, our spots fill up fast—if you are planning on rafting this summer, make sure you book your spots as soon as you can. As for what to bring, you need only three things to have a good time: a towel, a swimsuit (or a change of clothes), and a good attitude.

Our team provides the rest:

  • Wetsuit
  • Fleece
  • Spray jacket
  • Life jacket
  • Neoprene booties
  • Helmet
  • A friendly, funny guide
  • The raft

Meet us at our base, and we will do the rest. We’ll start with safety instructions and give you the lay of the land; how much fun you have is up to you.

Choose Your Difficulty

Our white water rafting paths in Golden, BC, will only ever cover class 1-4 waves. Families with kids under 12 years old may find that the Family Whitewater adventure suits them better. This trip only encounters classes 1-3, whereas both the Last Waltz and the Kicking Horse Classic will go through class 4 as well. But what do these numbers mean? According to the International Scale of River Difficulty, the ratings are as follows:

Class 1: Gentle, moving water with small ripples and waves.

Class 2: Straightforward rapids with wide, clear channels.

Class 3: Large, continuous series or sets of waves.

Class 4: Class 4 are intense and powerful but predictable rapids, requiring technical maneuvering.

Please note that the Kicking Horse’s class 5 and class 6 waves are not tackled by any company. These rapids are extremely difficult and can be dangerous, even to experienced guides.
