Meet the Kicking Horse River
Nestled between Golden, BC, and Banff, AB, the Kicking Horse River is what the guides of Hydra call home. Right at the very center of this glacier-fed river is the perfect location for even beginners to try their hand at riding the waves. In this area, you’ll have a peek into the wildlife native to the Rockies: black bears, moose, beavers, and wolves are just a few of these! The mountains are a sight to see no matter the time of year, but we like to think that the summer is the most fun (usually viewed from the seat of a river raft). We take all of our groups on a ride of their comfort level, travelling down class 1-4 rapids as a team.
Fun For All Skill Levels
Between the Kicking Horse Classic, the Last Waltz, and the Family Whitewater, families with kids 8 and up will be able to find a ride fit for them. The Family Whitewater rafting journey is best suited for families with kids between the ages of 8 and 11 and who weigh more than 50 lbs. We won’t tackle any class 4 waves, limiting your ride to the tamer of the waves while still having some fun. Even if it is your first time white water rafting, the Kicking Horse Classic and Last Waltz are still beginner-friendly! While these hit some class 4 waves, all of our routes are tried and tested over our 30 years in operation. Choose either of these if you have kids 12 and up weighing more than 90 lbs.
