The Hydra River Base is located on the banks of the Kicking Horse River, just 40 minutes west of Lake Louise and 1 hour and 15 minutes from Banff. Getting here is easy.

The drive is filled with stunning views and wildlife sightings. We are the closest rafting operator to Banff and our base is right at the top of the river. There's no need to board any shuttle buses; once you're kitted out with gear, we’re off!

In Spring 2021, there is a HWY construction project  in the Kicking Horse Canyon. This project  does not affect travel to our Rafting base if you are coming from the East (Field, Lake Louise, Banff, Calgary). However, there are mid week closures from Golden during May if you are coming from the West. During regular rafting season (June - September), there should be no road closures due to construction from either direction.

Our River Base provides a safe and scenic place for you to start and end your Kicking Horse rafting adventure. The private land and stunning views make for a pretty amazing facility. Our site is fully equipped with flushing toilets, change rooms and plenty of space. Our secure parking lot allows rafters to leave their personal belongings and vehicles safely. The sweeping river views are the perfect backdrop for guests enjoy while getting ready to hit the rapids.

From (east)

Calgary, Banff & Lake Louise

Travel west on the Trans Canada Highway (Hwy #1) past Banff, Lake Louise and the town of Field. Approximately 20 minutes (29kms) after Field, you will leave Yoho National Park. Take the next right turn onto Beaverfoot Road (via underpass, off Hwy #1). Look for Hydra signage. Cross over railway tracks and then over a bridge. Turn right onto Kicking Horse Road. Our site is the first driveway on the right, past the cabins with red roofs. Look for the Hydra sign. Address: 2936 Kicking Horse Road, Golden, BC.

Take Hwy #1 East from Golden. Travel approximately 25 kms or 20 minutes and turn right (off Hwy #1) onto Beaverfoot Road. Cross over railway tracks and then over a bridge. At the first intersection, turn right onto Kicking Horse Rd. Our site is the first driveway on the right, past the cabins with the red roofs. Look for the Hydra sign.
